Summer Golf Program Information
This four-week golf experience offers a high-performance program that includes courses on the History and Development of Golf, Golf Coaching and Intermediate Performance Skills, as well as rounds at some of the most famous golf courses in Scotland. These two courses provide practical experience and theory. Students are advised to contact their academic counselor to review the descriptions of the two courses for appropriate transfer academic credit.
Candidates will be housed in their own, fully furnished student accommodations at the prestigious St. Andrews University, a 10-minute walk from the historic practice range there. Transportation will be provided each morning to Elmwood campus for classes and outside golf locations. This campus is recognized as a national and international center for golf-related specialties and degrees. It is located in the old market town of Cupar, alongside rich, rural scenery, farmland, and country estates.
In addition to the practice facilities at Elmwood with unlimited play, other outdoor golf practice and teaching locations as part of this program include courses such as Arbroath, Kingarrock Hickory Golf Course, Boat of Garten, Scotscraig, and Leven. Students also have options for weekend excursions such as sightseeing in Edinburgh and more Golf!! This program will strengthen the resumes of students with interests in sports and recreation careers.
Visits and tee times can be scheduled at Dukes Golf Course at St. Andrews, Old Course, Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, Dumbarnie, Drumoig, Wellsgreen and The Dukes, Gleneagles, and others. As some of these historic golf courses are included in the course schedule, other courses can be reserved at a cost. With the Adelante staff in Scotland, we are able to reserve tee times for our candidates (usually impossible this time of year) and, often times, at a discount rate.
